i’ve been falling off of posting updates to my blog lately, and the reason for that’d be that i’m physically writing more in my own journal instead.
after months of neglect, i finally filled a fountain pen up with the gifted ink from my bro and it really makes for a great writing experience. after getting used to writing in cursive again after what feels like maybe 2 years, i also found my hipster-looking leather-bound journal that i bought from a goodwill in 2016. it’s only half-filled and while i’m just talking about personal life stuff and game development, i think it’s going to be a cool book when im dead and gone.
newfound respect for historical books
i’ve been thinking more about leaving something behind for history more often. not gon’ lie, it feels like i’m just romanticizing journaling but just about last month, alongside my partner and a close-friend, while shopping at a flea market, we found ourselves journals of a world war 2 officer.
instead of buying that, i ended up buying a 240 year old book about a poet of that time. so finding my 2016 journal around the same time as that $20 purchase ended up with me regaining appreciation for journaling.
picking up the painting brush again
another non-digital thing i’ve been doing more of is something that started as a small exercise for myself while at my partners. the painting that came out of that felt so nice to make that i’m hooked on it again lol- a very nice feeling imo. so now, i’m trying to make it a habit of painting small-ish 4″x6″ canvas’ of photos i have saved in my phone.
commissions
in latest news i also got a few commissions to do using my paintings skills. one of a recently passed family member and another of a friends wedding. very cool stuff.
anybut until next time!
